Worried

I'm amazed at the expressions that are visable on the face of a dog. I snapped this photo while playing with Rom, our almost 10 year old Rottie mix, in the back yard the other day. I had the camera in one hand and a newly formed snowball in the other. Rom was afraid I wouldn't be tossing the snowball anytime soon. Sometimes he is more human than I am.

Could It Be A White Christmas?

Oh could it be? I'm almost afraid to get my hopes up. Last night we had our second snow fall of the week and the temperatures don't appear to be warming up so it just might stick around. The blanket of snow is lovely to look at from the nice warm house with a cup of hot chocolate in hand.

Tag, I'm it!

Gretchyn tagged me and so I've got questions to answer as well as people to tag. Questions are easy, as far as the people to tag I'm going to have to think about that one.

1.How many songs are on your iPod/Zune/mp3 player? 3,861
2. What music would you want played at your funeral? One song for certain, May The Road Rise To Meet You by Jackopierce. I love their voices and I love the sentiment of the song.

3.What magazines do you have subscriptions to? None, I borrow from my Mom who is wonderful shares the 3 different scrapbooking magazines she gets monthly with me.

4. What is your favorite scent? The way it smells just before it rains, Coconut Lime from Bath & Body Works, Creme Carmel candles from PartyLite.

5. If you had a million dollars that you could only spend on yourself, what would you do with it?New car - A Mercury Sable just like I have now, but in white this time instead of black. There are some friends I'm missing very much and I would travel to see all of them. I'd take Keith to spend the summer on the north shore of Lake Superior next year and while we are gone I'd hire a contractor to build the new deck and paint the house!

6. What is your theme song? Not sure if I have a theme song. The closest I come to one is actually a theme song for my marriage, We Will Dance by Steven Curtis Chapman.

7. Do you trust easily? Yes

8. Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think? I'm a thinker!

9.Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days? Unhappy...yes missing my friends wedding in Dallas last weekend.

10. Do you have a good body-image?95% of the time.

11. Is being tagged fun? I would say this is my first time being tagged and it has been fun.

12. Do you spend time social networking (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)? I spend time on Facebook and used to spend some time on MySpace.

13. What have you been seriously addicted to lately?Chai Tea Latte - cold or hot

14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is? I think Gretchyn is a sweet soul with a wonderful sense of humor. She is crafty too!! I'm so grateful that she became friends with my husband in college so that all these years later I could meet her too.

15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head? I'd Come for You by Nickelback. It's on the new album which I've been listening too since it came out last week.

16.What’s your favorite item of clothing? My very favorite item is my leather bombers jacket that I have had since the late 1980s. The leather is in awesome shape, but the cuffs are worn out. :( My next favorite is anything pink or apple green in my closet.

17. Do you think Rice Crispies are yummy? I like them

18. What would you do if you see saw $100 lying on the ground? Scrapbook store here I come with 50 of it and a chance to adopt an extra angel with the other.

19. What items could you not go without during the day? My Zune...I wear the thing to bed and carry it with me during the day. If I'm not on vacation, I don't like to live without my phone either. I love my new one it has a built in MP3 player too, just in case I don't have my Zune!

20. What should you be doing right now? Cleaning the bathroom, tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I have 19 people coming for dinner.

It's good to look up

Today I'm moving furniture around and moping floors getting ready for tomorrow's guests and the feast that I can almost taste right now. The day has been pretty focused and I've been grateful that the view hasn't been distracting me. The water has been grey with the sky matching it most of the day. Five minutes or so ago I did look up, to see if the windows needed washing, and was rewarded. Glacier Peak, one of the many volcanic mountains in the area, was visible. It is a rare site from here and I'm glad I looked up!

Tried a new casserole

What's for dinner? A question that gets asked so very often and I really enjoy having a new answer to that question. Last night I made a new recipe called "Hearty Chicken & Noodle Casserole". The recipe used items I keep on hand in my pantry. Love that!! The only change I'll make to the recipe next time is add bit more seasoning. There is a 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper in it, but the dish seemed to be missing something and both my husband and myself added a dash of seasoning to it on our plates.

Hearty Chicken & Noodle Casserole from Campbell's

1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup (I used the healthier type)
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/4 grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup of frozen mixed vegetables ( I added 1/4 cup of extra corn to this too because we LOVE corn)
2 cups cubed cooked chicken
2 cups medium egg noodles cooked and drained
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Stir soup, milk, black pepper, Parmesan cheese, vegetables, chicken and noodles in 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.

Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until hot. Stir and top with Cheddar cheese.

Mt. Baker

There is an ever changing view from my window. It is an amazing gift that I try to enjoy every day. There are those grey water days where the view isn't very exciting, however the majority of the time it is lovely. Sometimes though it just takes my breath away. Today Mt. Baker did that. The mountain was out in full glory. All 10,778 snow capped feet rising from sea level could be seen.

The photo doesn't do it's beauty justice.

YRBM-20 in the Harbor

In October two different "ships" that looked like this one arrived in the harbor. YRBM-20 spent the night close enough to the house for me to identify and research it. What a history! At one time the vessel was known as the Delta Hilton and served in Vietnam.
Here is a link to some more information about the vessel
